One of the obvious realities of being a runner is that the harder we work, the more energy our bodies burn; thus the more energy we need to replace in order to feed the engine. The ironic twist to that equation is that the harder we work, the more reluctant our body is to absorb the calories it requires. The science is pretty clear; at the pointy end of the output spectrum, our stomach goes offline (to spare blood for use in our legs), and both the quantity and form of calories that we can process becomes limited.
It's almost that time of year and we're not really sure where the year went! So with two weeks left until the holidays, we put together a little gift guide to help spark some ideas. Whether you need something big for your significant other, meaningful for your parents, fancy for yourself, or something to bulk up a stocking, we're here to help.
Thank you to everyone who is joining us for the 30×30 challenge! Today is the day, so if you haven't already gotten out there… quit reading this and go run! Now!
For everyone else, we understand if you're sitting on the fence. You want to join the challenge, but there's a pocket of fear or doubt in your mind that's holding you back. Well guess what? That's great! The fear of a challenge is good. We all need a bit of healthy fear in our lives to push us out of our comfort zone, and help us grow as athletes and as people. Embrace that fear. Use it to push you out the door each day.
