Capra Holiday Gift Guide

It's almost that time of year and we're not really sure where the time has gone! So with two weeks left until the holidays, we put together a little gift guide to help spark some ideas. Whether you need something big for your significant other, meaningful for your parents, fancy for yourself, or something to bulk up a stocking, we're here to help.

Gifts Under $50

Trigger Point Foot Rollers and Massage Balls

Trigger Point Foot Roller: We often neglect to pay attention to our feet the way we do other parts of our training. Foot rollers are a great way to increase foot flexibility and relieve minor muscular aches and pains. Hint: it also works on other areas of the body (forearms, triceps, lower calf, etc.)

Trigger Point Massage Balls: For the person that's always asking you to rub the knot in their back, massage balls are a perfect gift to give your hands a break. Upper back, glutes, hips, feet, calves... these things work everywhere!

Ciele FSTCap and Black Diamond Spot Headlamp

Ciele Cap: Lightweight, fast-drying, packable, and covered by a Million Miles guarantee so you never have to worry about this gift ‘wearing out’. Available in a variety of great colour combos and various styles, Ciele hats are a must have for all the runners in your life.

Black Diamond Spot Headlamp: Everyone needs a headlamp, especially this time of year. With 200 lumens and a waterproof package the Spot is powerful enough for a long pre/post work run, and small enough to take with you all the time. PowerTap Technology lets you adjust brightness on the fly, even with gloves on.

Swiftwick Socks SmartWool Socks and Balega Socks

Socks: Every runner needs socks. It's easy to brush them off, but a bad pair of socks can make a great shoe feel terrible. A good pair of socks however, can make a long run enjoyable with warm, dry, and blister-free feet. The ideal sock should be forgotten about once you start running. Everyone likes something different, which is why we have a variety of models to find the perfect fit.

Just for Her

Kari Traa Kryss Long Sleeve

Kari Traa Kryss LS: Made with super soft merino wool blended with Modal, this top is an amazing base layer for all of your favourite cold weather activities. The merino keeps you warm and comfortable, with its excellent wicking power and breathability (and is naturally odour resistant), while the Modal helps the top keep its shape when wet.

Just for Him

RYU MidLayr Hoody

RYU MidLayr Hoody: If you don't know RYU by now, then you're missing out. Designed in Vancouver and Squamish (yes, Squamish), this hoody has become the unofficial Capra staff uniform. We wear it almost daily, and for good reason. The technical fabric with built-in wicking properties is perfect for layering up pre, or post training, or as a day to day piece. Soft, stretchy and looks equally at home training or cruising around town. It also has an awesome hidden card pocket so you don't need to carry a wallet.

Wet West Coast Essential

Dynafit Transalper 3L Jacket

Dynafit Transalper 3L Jacket: We live on the west coast, so let's face it, everyone needs a waterproof jacket. There's no bad weather when you have the right gear, and the Transalper 3L jacket is just that. Ultra light, highly waterproof and breathable with a minimalist cut, it packs down small enough to end the age old debate of ‘should I bring a jacket or not?’

La Sportiva Hail Jacket

La Sportiva Hail Jacket: In the same realm as the Transalper, the Hail Jacket is another super light, waterproof and breathable jacket that's highly packable. It has an integrated stow pocket, underarm ventilation and a mild bit of stretch in the fabric to move with you while running.

Your Body is a Temple

Trigger Point Grid Roller

Trigger Point Grid Roller: Runners know the fine line between loving and hating the foam roller. It's always a struggle to force ourselves to do it, so make it a little easier for your loved one with the Grid roller. The three-dimensional surface has a variety of widths to replicate the feeling of a massage therapist's hands, allowing the tissue to aerate while you roll, promoting the flow of blood and oxygen. Perfect for a pre-run warm up, or post run session to work out knots and help recovery. It's durable, compact and also travels well with the hollow core (stuff your clothes inside).

The Hard to Buy For

Capra Gift Cards

Capra Gift Cards: We all have one in our life. The person that has everything; the one that's difficult to buy for, or whose size you can't quite remember. Capra gift cards are a simple, convenient way to show that person you care; printed on a high-quality soft-touch card stock with gold foil stamping, and available in your choice of denomination.

Stocking Stuffers

Variety of Sports Nutrition Products

Nutrition: We have one of the larger selections of sports nutrition in the corridor, and we love talking about it. It also happens to be a great stocking stuffer. If you're unsure what to get, just ask, and we can help you put a selection together. Quantities of 12 and over get a 10% discount.

Stocking Stuffer Ideas

Accessories: We have a variety of accessories in store, from toques, hats, and gloves with built-in mitt covers, to Saxx underwear (both day to day and sport models). There's more in store, so come talk to us about who you're buying for and we'll help get you sorted.

Staff Picks

And finally, our personal picks. It was hard to narrow down to just one, but here are our choices.

Louis Garneau 4002 Zip Neck

Mike — Louis Garneau 4002 Zip Neck

Given the current ice and snow, and that I don't do well in the cold (that's an understatement), the Louis Garneau Zip Neck has been a mandatory layer for me while outside. It's soft ribbed inner face wicks moisture while creating little air pockets that trap body heat, and it's 2-way front zip vents excess heat and has a piece of mesh to stop the collar from draping open. Well engineered and lots of warmth, makes this one my holiday recommendation.

Kari Traa Louise Tight

Solana — Kari Traa Louise Tight

I'd recommend the Louise tights as the new go-to full length running tights for the special lady in your life. Extremely comfortable with lots of great features including a drawstring waist, zippered pocket, super flattering stitch lines, and a zippered cuff with silicon gripper bottoms to keep your pants in place around the ankles. They breath easily, dry quickly, and have a mapped construction that increases freedom of movement.

Dynafit Thermal Half Zip

Tyler — Dynafit Thermal 1/2 Zip

This has been my go-to core layer in the past month and a half, for anything below 6ºC. It's a super versatile piece that you can layer up or down, depending on the weather; it wicks extremely well and dries fast which helps regulate body temperature, and blocks a fair amount of wind while still being breathable. It seems to be the near perfect combination of warmth and breathability. Plus, the thumb loops double as watch hole when you're not using them.
