Social Run Groups

The Capra Run Club

The Capra Run Club is designed to create a local community of like-minded and passionate trail runners. We offer three group runs per week, starting and finishing at the shop with the occasional destination change to keep things interesting. They are free and open to everyone.

Group Run Schedule

On Saturday mornings we offer two pace groups. If you're new to the capra run groups, we recommend that you first see how the Social Group feels, before jumping in with the Speedy Group

SOCIAL SATURDAYS - Everyone Welcome  (9am start)

9:00am - 11:30am

Our Saturday Social is all about moving together in nature and creating community through conversations and movement - it is not about the pace at which we're moving. The group does between 11 & 16kms in 2 - 2.5 hours and re-groups at every intersection and viewpoints along the way for photo ops. The group will hike up all inclines and cruise along all flats and downhills at a conversational pace. The best indicators of pace are a road 10km at 60 minutes, up and down the First Peak of the Chief in under 90 minutes, up the Sea to Summit trail in under 2:30, or up EVAC in under 2 hours.

Well behaved off-leash trail dogs are welcome, but if you're new to the group, we ask that you come out solo to start to make sure it's a good fit. Not all dogs are comfortable at running in a group and there is an expectation that dogs will not impede other runners with their bodies, carrying sticks, or interactions with other trail users.

SATURDAY QUICK PACE (*new time - 8am start)

8:00 –10:00/10:30am

The Speedy group is a more intense group run. They are running most hills, keeping a quicker overall pace and covering 17-22kms, with 600+ m of gain in their 2 - 2.5 hour time slot. The pace per km will depend on the route, but they are averaging a 6:00-7:00km on trails.

Some good indicators of speed are that you can go up and down 1st Peak of the Chief in under an hour, up Sea to Summit in under 1:30, or EVAC in an hour. This group does not re-group at every intersection and runners are expected to have a responsibility and familiarity with the trail system if they can't keep pace.

If you’re new to run club and unsure of which group to join, we suggest hopping in the social group first and then seeing how you feel; but if you know you’re thirsty for a bit more speed, then come and give it a go.

No dogs allowed in the speedy group.

*Beginner Friendly

New for this year’s 30x30, we’re teaming up with some of our brands to host Sunday morning demo runs/walks  (shorter duration than our regular run groups)

There will be a walking group, speedy run group, and social run group. All groups will have a leader and will be out for 40-60 minutes max.
Locations and timing will be included in our 30x30 newsletters but mark your calendars for these brand dates:

Sunday Nov 5 - HOKA
Sunday Nov 12 - La Sportiva
Sunday Nov 19 - Altra
Sunday Nov 26 - Salomon

THURSDAY NIGHTER - On Pause until Spring

Post-work Shakeout

With daylight lasting well in to the evening it's time for Thursday nighters again. We get together for a casual and conversational post-work run from the shop. This is a beginner-friendly, relaxed pace run, and is a great shake-out/catch-up for the week. We never leave anyone behind and regroup at all trail intersections. The run is normally between 60 and 90 minutes and will continue through Spring and Summer. For the month of September, we recommend bringing a headlamp.
