THE FOUNDATION - ROCK SKILLS AND DOWNHILL RUNNING
If you want to be stronger, faster, and more confident in the summer, then use the spring to build a solid foundation. We want to provide trail runners with a couple of the essentials for the local trails and terrain.
DOWNHILL RUNNING CLINICS
Downhill running is a technical skill which takes patience and practice to master. This coming April, Mike Murphy will be leading our DH clinics.
If running downhill makes you nervous, or you feel like you are always losing time to your friends on the descents, this one is for you.
We are holding three of the Downhill Running clinics this spring. Cost is $39 (per clinic);
Sunday April 7, 9am - 12pm
Saturday April 27, 9am - 12 pm
Sunday May 12, 9am - 12pm
INTRODUCTION TO ROCK CLIMBING... *FOR RUNNERS*
Anyone who trail runs in the Sea to Sky corridor has likely experienced a moment (or many many moments) of uncertainty and anxiety about some of the technical rock features that are found everywhere. Maybe it was just a wet, low-angle slab - or maybe even some 'hands-on' scrambling in the alpine - but rock skills are a huge component in being efficient and confident on our local terrain.
This clinic, lead by a local rock guide, will provide you with some basic rock skills that will become a well used tool in your running repertoire. Some of the basics covered will be;
- familiarization with a rope and harness
- demonstration of belay techniques
- identifying and using proper foot holds and hand holds
- proper body position
- hands-on practice on typical terrain, both while on a rope and off
- cost is $99
Sunday June 2, 9am - 2pm
