GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT OUR RUN GROUPS

Saturday and Sunday run clubs are cancelled Aug 10/11 & 17/18.  Wednesday Social is still happening as usual on the 14th

Our run groups are all free. No sign up or registration, and everyone is welcome. We want to make getting out for a run easy, fun, and inclusive.

Starting Wednesday June 5, the evening SUMMER SOCIAL RUNS are back!  The start at 6:15pm, at capra, every Wednesday (until September)

On Saturday mornings we offer two pace groups. If you're new to the capra run groups, we recommend that you first see how the Social Group feels, before jumping in with the Speedy Group.

We run all year round. It is rare to cancel, but it does happen on occasion due to unsafe trail or weather conditions. We post any changes or updates to Instagram and in our Facebook group. Please check those resources for any changes

We’ve included some pace approximations below to give you an idea of our speeds and distances. These metrics will vary depending on the technicality of the route, the elevation gain, and the overall group that shows up. All group runs are on trails, and these numbers are estimates.

You will need to sign a waiver, in-store, before your first outing with us. If you'd like to save a minute or two, a blank waiver can also be dowloaded here
SUMMER SOCIAL RUN - Wednesdays, 6:15pm at capra
This one is a  Social Run, and not about the pace at which we're moving. The group does approximately 75-90 minutes

Well behaved off-leash trail dogs are welcome, but if you're new to the group, we ask that you come out solo to start to make sure it's a good fit. Not all dogs are comfortable at running in a group and there is an expectation that dogs will not impede other runners with their bodies, or carrying sticks, or interactions with other trail users.
SATURDAY SOCIAL GROUP - 8am at capra
Our Saturday Social is all about moving together in nature and creating community through conversations and movement - it is not about the pace at which we're moving. The group does between 9 & 14km in 1.5 - 2 hours, and re-groups at every intersection and viewpoints along the way (photo ops). The group will hike up all inclines and cruise along all flats and downhills at a conversational pace. The best indicators of pace are a road 10km at 60 minutes, up and down the First Peak of the Chief in under 90 minutes, up the Sea to Summit trail in under 2:30, or up EVAC in under 2 hours.

SATURDAY QUICK PACE - *8am start at capra
The Speedy group is a more intense group run. They are running most hills, keeping a quicker overall pace and covering 17-22km, with 600+ m of gain in their 2 - 2.5 hour time slot. The pace per km will depend on the route, but they are averaging a 6:00-7:00km
on trails.

Some good indicators of speed are that you can go up and down 1st Peak of the Chief in under an hour, up Sea to Summit in under 1:30, or EVAC in an hour. This group does not re-group at every intersection and runners are expected to have a responsibility and familiarity with the trail system if they can't keep pace.

If you’re new to run club and unsure of which group to join, we suggest hopping in the social group first and then seeing how you feel; but if you know you’re thirsty for a bit more speed, then come and give it a go.

No dogs allowed in the speedy group.

48hrs of VERT - CHARITY CHALLENGE - MAY 24 to 26

Join us May 24-26 as we put our legs & lungs to the test to raise money for the Sea to Sky Hospice Society, in collaboration with their annual Hike for Hospice Fundraiser. This year we want to help make a dent in their fundraising goals, by getting the local trail community involved in the Hike for Hospice. Their goal is to raise $75,000!

This is a Virtual event where you can participate from anywhere in the world. We will host some group run sessions in Squamish over the weekend as well, with a focus on going up!.

Registration is $20, which goes directly to the Sea to Sky Hospice. You will have a 48hr window to rack up as much vert as you can:  Friday May 24, at 5pm until Sunday May 26, at 5pm

As a bonus for taking part, we (capra) will have a few draw prizes to give away.  Every 100m that you climb from Friday May 24th 5pm to Sunday May 26th 5pm earns you one ticket into the prize draw. *all data must be confirmed by Strava* The person with the most vert during this 48 hour period will also receive a special prize.

The Sea to Sky Gondola will provide one complimentary download ticket for each registered participant that hikes up to the gondola on Saturday May 25th.

We’re lucky, in our neck of the woods. We have tons of vert options: the Chief will earn you 580m, while EVAC or Sea to Summit will bank 900m. You may not be so lucky, and you have to do laps of the local neighbourhood stairs/hill. BUT IT ALL COUNTS.

*All data MUST be confirmed by Strava to qualify for prizes* Stay tuned for group hiking times & paces to be announced.

The Sea to Sky Hospice Society exists and works so that you and your loved ones communities have access to supportive services and programs when faced with a life limiting illness. facilitate a life well lived end of one life. They also offer bereavement support for those experiencing grief from loss through their drop-in walks, groups, and caregiver support. This year we wanted to help make a dent in their Hike for Hospice fundraising goals.
